I'm still catching up on photos, so here are few more from my mom's visit.
The Children's Museum.
What are our favorite animals at the zoo? Elephants? Nope. Monkeys? Nope. Ladybugs!
Putting up the tree.
Making pine cones covered with sunflower seed butter and rolled in birdseed to hang in our front yard tree. Did you know that the origin of Christmas trees had nothing to do with Christmas? People in parts of Europe used to hang pine cones like ours, dried fruit garlands and the like in evergreens just before the winter solstice to help the animals get through the darkest part of winter, kind of like we have birdfeeders today. Maybe next year' we'll do cranberry garlands too. I am always so happy when the days start getting longer again.
